Hello, all!
Breathe in the toxins in the air and infect your head with this week’s Hotbox picks!
Tommy’s Picks:

Blind Girls – An Exit Exists
Putting the violence in powerviolence with 17 minutes of pure fury. Creeping terror at 200 mph.

Krallice – Inorganic Rites
Another avant-garde journey in the humungous discovery of Krallice. This time round, many elements of ambient and atmospheric music are entwined, making for a truly unique experience.

Keith & Tex – Righteous Man ft. Inna De Yard
A smooth, steady release from the masters with some of the grooviest bass I’ve heard. Their first release in many years featuring Inna De Yard.
Cori’s Picks:

Jasper Zeray – Less of Where I’ve Been
Jasper Zeray based at SUNY Purchase he has been making sick beats for a while . This album has an amazing production value, my fave song is power broker. It is both an album to study to and an album to accompany a nice walk.

Lip Critic – Hex Dealer
Also a SUNY purchase spawn Lip Critic has been gaining a lotta traction in the last year or two with Paste Magazine calling them “an apocalyptic wasteland of NYC’s best underground punk”. They are sick and their lyrics are even sicker.
P.S. I really love this album cover – Tommy

Loukeman – Sd-2
I luved louke man for 4ever. This album has many Easter eggs of folk, pop, and R&B songs, bending them into familiar yet distorted shapes. His music is perf for anything I love climbing the stair master to it.
Bella’s Picks:

Tyler, The Creator – CHROMAKOPIA
after breaking his two year rule, tyler the creator releases his new album chromakopia. I would argue that is a solid combination of his previous records with an added maturity and vulnerable that we haven’t seen from before. Themes of paternity, aging, and complex romantic relationships only touch the surface of what tyler discusses on this album. My faves include judge Judy, like him, and darling, I.

The Cure – Songs of a Lost World
I was ecstatic when I found out that the cure was releasing a new album after a decade hiatus. While their last few records definitely possessed a poppier touch, on songs of a lost world the cure returns to their gothic roots. Robert smith’s vocals remain unwavering despite his age and are still such an auditory delight. For sure check out this album!!!

Thee Sinseers + Joey Quinones – Sinseerly Yours
Rhea’s Picks:

Foxtails – Home
Been on a big screamo kick this week for no reason in particular. This album has been GREAT— fantastic musicianship, and palatable for people like me who can’t handle a lot of screaming. Let’s hear it for catharsis.

Haley Heynderickx – Seed of a Seed
New Haley Heynderickx album??!!! So perfect for november. This brings me right back to 2020… great guitar and vocals as always, makes me feel like I’m walking through a redwood forest and taking a nap on a bed of moss.
Varun’s Picks:

Merce Lemon – Watch Me Drive Them Dogs Wild
This Pitssburgh-based singer-songwriter makes serene, confessional alt-country in the vein of Mazzy Star, Big Thief, Wednesday and Mojave 3.

Trauma Ray – Chameleon
On their debut album, Trauma Ray establishes themselves as stalwarts of modern shoegaze. The Texan group draws on acts like My Bloody Valentine and the Smashing Pumpkins but pushes the envelope beyond those influences; many songs on here transition seamlessly between grungy breakdowns and fuzzy, pedal-driven walls of distortion.
Alright, amazing – I will see you guys soon and you’ll all be in my heart until then.
